What is the measure of our devotion?
       How much do we really care?
The day is filled with haste and commotion.
       When they need me most am I there?

Do you view your job as a balance sheet?
       Is your concern for numbers and goals?
Or do you yearn when the day is done
       for the welfare of their souls?

What kind of excuse are you willing to take
       from yourself, when you fail to go
not an extra mile, but a step or two,
       to lighten the heart that is low?
