     The Man In The Mirror

When you look in the mirror
tell me what do you see?
Do you look into the eyes staring back
and see a man of integrity?
Or do you focus on the hair, the teeth, the cheeks,
       avoiding what you know you might see;
the man in the mirror staring back at you,
far from the man you thought you’d be.

Bad choices, wrong decisions, excuses always abound.
"No one is perfect, I’m only human," oh such familiar sound.
"I’m not good enough, I can’t do that, I’m afraid."
No self worth is the work of the adversary.
You are good enough. You can do anything if you will.
Oh man; you are something he’ll never be.
You are a child of Heavenly Parents,
       created by God’s very hands.
Oh that you would recognize how much you are worth
and do as our Father commands.

Humble yourself, repent of your sins
trust in God with all might, mind and strength.
Submit to His will and you can endure
trial and tribulation of any length.
Think it not strange the firey trials that should try you,
for the fire both anneals and tempers.
Gird up yourself with the whole armor of God,
remain faithful and keep Him in remembrance.
I would that you should know the prizes to be won
and what exquisite great joy they will bring.

But where much is given, much is required,
he that overcometh shall inherit all things.
For these are they whose bodies are celestial
whose glory is that of the sun.
All things are theirs, whether life or death,
or things present, or things to come.
And now I look forward with a brightness of hope
to that glorious day to be,
when I can lift my eyes in the mirror and see
a glimpse of Christ’s eye staring back at me.
