Remember my sons, each day you live
the kind of man you would like to be.
And try to act as you think he would,
as soon you’ll find that you are he.
There can be no courage without fear,
but fear is a thing you can control.
Use your faith and will to conquer fear
and do what’s right though hell may roll.
Stay in control–subdue yourself.
Be calm, though terrors fill the skies.
Boast not, but fight for what is right
and in winning help the loser rise.
Allow the fallen to keep his pride
and show him you’re indeed his friend.
For both of you are sons of God
on earth to serve the selfsame end.
When you are finished here below,
both exit through a common door,
which leads into the Spirit World,
where all who’ve died have gone before.
Be clean my sons, and do not fall
into temptation’s rolling mire.
But keep your minds, your lives and hearts
attuned to feel the Spirit’s fire.
And spend your lives, lay them down, I say!
Make your lives the price you are willing to pay.
For only cowards throw them away
and our lives at the most are less than a day.
Be kind to the weak, the slow, the poor.
With those who are different, patient be.
For Jesus said that to do them wrong
is the same as "doing it unto me."
I do not promise health or wealth,
or a bounteous boon from the common shelf.
But if you heed these simple words,
you will live at peace with God and self.
