     His Pathways Are Smooth...

Often it is said that to follow Him
is a painful road causing heartache within.
For surely the believers in the past
were smitten severely from first to last.
One wonders why the believers suffered so?
Was it punishment or a need to help them grow?
Well, I’ll share a secret I know to be true.
A precious secret that will help guide you.

What father smiteth his child for following him?
What father punisheth his child without any sin?
Neither doth our Father in Heaven above
who is the author and finisher of undying love.
It is true that sometimes lessons need be learned,
so that everlasting truths can be discerned.
But the Father doth not use abandonment or tricks
and the Son watches over us as a hen with her chicks.

It’s when we wander off the path He has laid out
that our life becomes filled with trouble and doubt.
Though tragedy can be inflicted by the freedom of others,
when we break commandments, our happiness suffers.
And though some pain is through no fault of our own,
most comes from not doing as the Lord has shown.
But even after all, even our worst transgression,
They help us make the best of a bad situation.

Nay, They never leave us nor laugh at our pain,
instead, figure a way for our happiness to regain.
And divine laws, here to teach, lead and sooth,
will one day show God’s pathways are smooth.
Yea, though believers are held down and abused by some,
they will be lifted up and exalted in the world to come.
Where milk and honey will be purchased without price;
and in the mansions of our Father, we’ll be heirs with Christ.

"Therefore, lift up your heads, and rejoice, and put your trust in God..."
                                                                                  Mosiah 7:19
