Without effort there is no growth.
       Without stress no strength.
Without pain, no compassion
       to soften our tempers as length.

Be grateful for life’s many problems,
       for in them are chances to grow.
Without them our lives would be wasted,
       as driftwood and tossed to and fro.

All these things shall be for thy good,
       and shall strengthen thee more in the end.
Until the Lord shall greet thee there
       and acknowledge thee as His friend.

For what is life but a moment,
       in God’s eternal day?
A moment in which to prepare for the light
       which will shine with Celestial ray.
